Workshop in Groningen, with first year VMBO students.
The students got the assignment to build a hut for a homeless person by using materials found in the surroundings.
This way, students get the opportunity to work with different materials and techniques. Making them more aware of recycling and the potential of it.
The children were challenged to think out of the box. And broaden their view on art in general.
There was a short visit to “ Het Betonbos” (the concrete forest) in Groningen, as a stimuli for the imagination. Some people squatted this terrain, a wasteland, over a decade ago. The residents have built their own homes with materials they’ve collected in the course of time.
After visiting “Het Betonbos’ the students had three hours to collect materials and build a home.
The final work was shown in a small exhibition on 26/28 November in Minerva Academy in Groningen.
